As a CEO, it’s important to have a clear vision of where you want to take your company. But great CEOs know that the best laid plans often change (sometimes without warning) and that a diversity of perceptions can be great for stimulating internal conversations to foster change.

As a CEO it’s important to understand perception and not discount perception of others. They may share your vision, but have a different path of getting there. They may not share your vision, but are seemingly on the same path. It’s important to speak to your team and always encourage them to speak up and be part of the conversation. Ask their perceptions, and take the opportunity to provide clarity. Then be prepared to have your perceptions challenged.
If you go through life only looking at one way to do things, you’ll always come up short. 6+4, 5+5, 1+9, 7+3, 8+2, are all going to end up being 10.
